Bridge over Frederiksholmsløbet

This 90m long highway bridge provides a strategic link across the Frederiksholmsløbet dock to planned new urban developments. The design for a drive-through plate girder trough features upstand beams at the edges of the roadway allowing a low-level deck to connect opposing quaysides with no approach ramps. The expressed beams segregate the footways from the roadway providing relief for pedestrians from the highway environment. The cantilevered pedestrian decks swell out from the highway, creating tapering glazed slots at the back of the footway which are lit from beneath at night. The footway flares at the NW corner providing a funnel onto the bridge from a new metro station on the adjacent plaza.
