Hoddle Street Interchange
The East-West Link is a proposed 18km tolled freeway in Melbourne. The Hoddle Street Interchange is an overpass of the freeway cutting with on and off ramps and connections back to local infrastructure. The project required the design of an elevated on-slip structure spanning the at-grade junction and an adjacent railway corridor. A separate foot and cycle bridge was designed adjacent to the interchange with at-grade connections back to existing routes. The highway ramp design follows a marked horizontal curve, and features a series of 110m span balanced-cantilever structures with steel ‘planar stays’, creating a distinctive urban marker on the freeway. The project was postponed in 2015.
