Rockhampton Ring Road, Queensland
Rockhampton Ring Road connects the Capricorn Highway and Bruce Highway north of Rockhampton, Queensland with a crossing of the Fitzroy River between Pink Lily and Kawana. The crossing site is upstream of the Fitzroy River Barrage where the river is neither tidal nor navigable. The Fitzroy River Crossing is a 250m long multi-span bridge designed in response to the Owner’s desire to establish the bridge as a new marker to the Capricorn Highway at the “gateway” to the Tropic of Capricorn. BEaM was commissioned to support development of the Preliminary Evaluation and Business Case phases of the project, exploring design options for the centrepiece structure of the proposed Ring Road.
